4+ years ago, should not present a problem, or at least - not a huge one - either for the citation(s) or the accident.

Out of curiosity - what were the "improper equipment" ones about? Loud exhaust (used to get these on my Harley years ago)?

5+ years is typically better, but 3+ is typically acceptible.

They were "speeding tickets " but I don't remember what the speed were I had a lawyer at the time most of them were pointless. One company wants me to find the ciations for them. But I have no way to get them ...

Bryan, 4 speeding tickets will not bode well with potential trucking employers. Two things will be looked at: the amount over the limit and the age of the charge. You need to pull a copy of your MVR from the state you are licensed in.

MVR:

Motor Vehicle Record

An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.

^^^This. Especially if the speed was 15mph over the limit. That's reckless driving. Not good.

I know they weren't over 15mph over the limit But the only thing on my mvr is improper equipment but I don't know where to go to find the speed that was put down. So I can send them to the schools

"Improper Equipment" tickets are now SPEEDING TICKETS?

You can pull an MVR from the state you are licensed in. You can also go to the Clerk of Court for the jurisdiction you were cited in, and get copies of the case dispositions.

If you had a lawyer (and I ALWAYS hire a lawyer to fight EVERY TICKET) and you were NOT CONVICTED, then you don't have CONVICTIONS.

Again - go to the Clerk of Court to verify - and/or contact the attorney that handled your tickets to see if they have copies of the disposition.

I haven't had a ticket in a very long time - getting a CDL straightened out my driving habits (and saved me $$'s on attorney fees). My attorney got ALL my tickets except one DISMISSED.

There's a difference between a CHARGE (citation) and a CONVICTION. Most companies are looking at CONVICTIONS.

And most companies are looking at the PREVIOUS FIVE YEARS.

Pull an MVR and see what's on it. And if you have that "colorful" a driving history - you might want to wait until you have 5 years SINCE YOUR LAST CONVICTION - before trying to get into the industry.

CDL:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

If they were pled down to improper equipment, then that's what you were convicted of. I know Colorado will very commonly plead down a minor speeding ticket (less than 10 mph over) to improper equipment.

If that's what's on your MVR, then that's what the final disposition was, and legally there's no speeding involved at all. I wouldn't admit to anything other than that. That is, after all, why you hired a lawyer.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
