Independence Day means I'm a year older, my dad use to lie to me when I was really little "those fireworks are all for you". Thinking those fireworks and all those people where gathered together for my birthday was a great feeling.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I am quite lucky in that I share my birthday with this rather illustrious day. I've always enjoyed it, even if my family holds our July 4th celebration a little early or late most years, weekend dependent.

The last few years I've been a little conflicted about celebrating it as much since I've gotten a little deeper into political history but it doesn't change the fact of what we've done as a country on the positive side of things.

(Can't seem to figure out how to edit, forgot to add this) My attitude has been ticking upwards on this subject since I got back into doing this job though.

Well I'm going to be the killjoy. Just celebrated my 47th birthday. Means I'm one year closer to my last breath, same holds true for this great experiment in self rule and determination that we call The United States of America. Can't point to a day on the calendar and say yep that's when it started, but government stopped being of the people, for the people, and by the people. Read a book, Empire by Orson Scott Card written in 2006. Twelve years later the Afterword is more appropriate than ever. Haven't heard the words "Social Contract" in two decades. People wait on the next IPhone or next Pokémon Go while things are falling apart around us. Countless people made the ultimate sacrifice for America and yet here we are like a spoiled kid that blows his inheritance on prostitutes and drugs.
