So after 239.5 hours with my mentor. I'm finally done. He has signed off on me and filled out all the paperwork and said he gave me the highest scores he has ever given a student. Now I wait til Monday to go in and take a road test then get the keys to my first truck. I get to spend the weekend at home and got to sleep in my own bed last night but I'm already itching to get in my own truck and get back there.

Congratulations Logan!

How's that weather in Texas today? I started out on a 2700 mile trip last night from El Paso headed up into Connecticut. I saw six jack-knifed trucks in the ditches and medians and I don't know how many cars slid off the road. I-10 in far west Texas was a mess.

Really proud of you! We would love to here an update from you every now and then if you can.

Old School ....I guess even that far south the weather is pretty evil . I expect it in NH , but often forget that ice and snow down south effects things worse since its potentially not prepared for properly .

What exactly happened to cause all the trouble , I have not watched weather reports .

Thanks old school. Today it's above freezing but it's rainy and cold though. I plan on updating more now that I'm off my mentors truck. Should have more time now, since I will be solo and not running team anymore.

Congratulations Logan. You must feel like a million bucks. I remember the feeling. Ah, thanks for the memories!

Keep safety a propriety out there man! You're going to be starting solo in the winter time. I did it last winter and it was not easy. Good luck out there and if you need any help feel free to message me or call. (If you want my number message me on FB)

The weather I got into down on I-10 came in quickly and the hwy dept. had not put sand on the overpasses yet. Each accident I saw was immediately following an overpass. Two of the six trucks were trucks that had sailed past me only moments before. I was doing 35 - the speed limit in that area of Texas is 80 mph, and some folks seemed like that was what they were doing. Those ditches have a way of slowing you down though.

Thats too bad ....or maybe it isnt ? From what I have read thats a career ending mistake for most companies , unless they were o/o . But if you look at it another way having drivers like that off the road is probably a good thing .

Brett : sorry for the double post up there ^

For O/O's...bein' stupid and landing in the ditch is also a career AND business ending error. We have alot more hangin' out there than a company driver. but its a funny thing....I've seen O/O's do some of the dumbest stuff !!! like they think that since they own that truck (them and the bank), they are immune from Murphy's Law....Well they find out...

Thanks Daniel and I probabley will be sending you a message pretty quick on FB. That's what got me nervous to is starting by myself in the winter but as long as I drive safely, slowly and defensively I hope to be ok.

Glad your getting to go home for thanksgiving and be safe on your way.

Old school I love my state most of the year except winter time. We just don't know how to deal with it. Up until the last couple years we haven't had to worry about snow and ice a whole lot. I can remember growing when I was in school from k-12th grade I got maybe a total of a week maybe 2 off for bad weather. It was very rare.
