What state do you currently reside?
Paul although I went to Swift Academy well over five years ago, Richmond VA trained students from PA, NC, SC and VA.
My guess? They, for whatever reason are not hiring from Rhode Island. My suggestion is apply for heir school on-line through their website to see if you might get a different result.
I also suggest not limiting yourself to just one choice...lots of other fish in the sea...

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
Thanks G.Town, I did apply to other companies as well. I'm looking at Roehl and Prime right now. I'm taking my time because i started the TT high road training program and I realize I need time to absorb everything and pass the CDLP test and some companies want you to get the permit before you head to school.

I just spoke on the phone with a Swift recruiter and, long story short, he said that I can't attend Swift's Academy, i would have to move to the state where the school is. Is this new?
