If I'm not mistaken, you would have to take your skills tests in Illinois. I would recommend you calling your local DMV/Secretary of State office for accurate up to date information.
I will say this about Illinois. In my experience as a driver trainer for a heavily focused Midwest Regional carrier, (most my trainees come from Illinois) I've found that in some areas they routinely pass very subpar drivers, while in other areas of the state they are thorough in testing. Drivers from some are extremely good drivers from the get go. I will not say what areas tend to pass drivers who have no business being on the road but there are two distinct areas that this is common.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

If you have friends and/or family that live in TN you could "move" and use their address. However, the transferring of your license back and forth would be a headache to deal with. I would recommend the school I went to ;however, the college lost its accreditation for that region. So the campuses closed down. If it was still up and running, it would of been ideal as the area is used to dealing with out of state licenses; because of, the military base nearby.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
I’m off to the dmv cdl testing office this morning it’s best to ask I personally then to call (south side of Chicago ) I will post my results

That sounds good Kenneth. I'd go ahead with your plan, but don't count on it being as easy as they told you. Illinois is famous for making things more difficult than necessary.

Congratulations! You'll get it. Good experience for you with patience, which you'll need plenty in this profession.
I added my P and S endorsements with a 3rd party testing center here in PA I believe it took about three days to show in the system. Its a little different but might give you a closer estimate to work with
