For those of you who have cables, (For trailer tires) put those on your chain rack last.... you'll want easy access to them..
Yesterday I got stuck in the mud. I was travelling along a beautiful 2 lane highway in north Utah with no where to pull off, when I started getting reefer alarms. I come to an area that has a gas station, and a large lot. There was even a tractor trailer already in the lot, so I pulled in.
I turn around and jump out to tend to my reefer unit. I wasn't out of the truck 5 min. Sure enough, I'm stuck..
I attempted to put chains on, but the tails are too short. The cables however, have a longer tail, and can be put on the tires tight enough that they won't slip. Creep forward until they are completely on the tire, and you can finish sinching them up.
Saved me a really embarassing Road assist call and an expensive tow bill.
