I picked up a load late in the day today, after dropping my previous load. Clock is at the end of it's day as well. Had to cheat the clock to get parked. They gave me a delivery time of 10:00 tomorrow. I got parked at 19:15. Did some figuring and determined I need sleep and time. I'll have a little more than 11 hours left on my 70 tomorrow as well. With all this, I figured a delivery time of 14:00 tomorrow would let me sleep, fuel and roll. I called dispatch and asked if they could put me in for a 14:00 delivery. They response was, "Done, I sent it you. Have a good night and stay safe." Any issues I ever have are solved that easy. I hope everyone has it that way.

My FM always did what he could for me as long as I kept him informed about hours, delivery ETA, and conditions.... He also trusted that if I told him that I needed to skip a stop or two with only 1 or 2 pieces to catch up time wise, and put those skipped deliveries onto their next scheduled delivery, he would do it.... Or if I told him I would be there after my scheduled time, he would do his best to reschedule the appointment. He also would give me the loads with tighter delivery times because he knew I would get it done...

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
