Hi guys n gals 😀

As the title implies, I have completed Grad class at Stevens and been assigned my truck!

Pheeeeeeew!! Huge sigh of relief! lol

I am writing this from the bunk of my newly assigned Kenworth T680 and here; I have to say, I appear to have 'come up trumps!!' A lovely, shiny 2018 model with just a hair over 70,000 miles on the clock! How lucky do I feel!? 👍😀

I have (quite proudly I have to say) changed my status to 'Rookie solo driver'. Therefore; I feel that any further ramblings should probably be posted in the 'General discussions' forum. Although, having said that; I would like to post once more in here, as promised, about my thoughts on dealing with the time spent living, working and attempting to learn in a 'trainer's truck.

With that in mind, I would like to thank any and/or all of you that have managed to plough through my often rather lengthy ramblings; with special thanks to all that replied for the many kind comments.

With a bit of luck, after a meeting with my Driver Manager , I will be leaving the yard tomorrow on my first adventure! All the gory details to follow! 😜

To those of you still in the clutches of any training program; my very best wishes and just one small piece of advice - stick with it; it can be done!

It feels great! 👍😀

Cheers,

Simon

Driver Manager:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I have RA in both knees. I've not noticed any difference between the auto or clutch. Drove an auto most of last year, and got back into a manual a little over three weeks ago. Now as far as the heavy city traffic, I'll take the automatic for my preference, though. Glad to see your updates, Simon. Don't be a stranger!good-luck.gif

Oh..i definitely wont be a stranger....But in the last 10 days, including 5 since I picked my team mate up in Albuquerque, I have run nearly 8000 miles and am generally shattered by the time I crawl into my bunk! lol So I tend to do a quick trawl through the site then 'crash' for the night....or in my case; for the day. 😉

For now; just let me say....I'm loving it!

As I said before; "I'll be back!!" 👍😜
