If a 65 hour work week wore you out, trucking may not be for you.
Understood -
35 out of that 65 hours were the last two days of the workweek leading up to July 4th, our busiest day of the year. Sorry I wasn't clear on that point.
Thanks.
Prime Inc. has the best network due to their size,Please explain the above comment, What network?
Hi G-town -
Well, Prime Inc. has - from what I gather - a pretty vast network to deal of terminals, drop off points, and things like places to go for medical and dental work all over the country. Some drivers have said that they can book appointments for you, even. Pretty handy if you are several hundred miles from home and have a root canal to deal with. As opposed to JP Trucking, which doesn't have that network, but is more personal.
Thanks.
MIB all of the Mega-Carriers have a vast network of terminals, drop lots, and shop facilities. As far as the other point, I'd expect one of the experienced Primates to confirm the specifics of dental and medical.
That said, the available network of physicians, urgent care, hospitals and dentists align with the specific carriers insurance policy that you have. All of the carriers will help their drivers with OTR medical care, especially if an emergency.
Prime is a great company, definitely, no question about it. However the points you made regarding their "vast network" isn't something setting them apart from many other options.
Not trying to make this more difficult for you, but you might want to read these links:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Why are you bummed?
G-Town -
Well this last year and a half, I wound up working for a best friend, but the work was not to my liking nor was it consistent nor was it financially rewarding. Actually, the whole experience has left me pretty unhappy with life in general; this is really alarming to me, as I am generally speaking a "glass half-full" positive guy. This experience has just worn me down and is probably the reason that I doubt my ability to drive a truck or anything else.
Portland/Vancouver area is home to me, so it's time to go home, regroup, and start kicking ass again.
