Last month I would have sworn that I was going to leave flatbed and go to reefer. After much deliberation and talking with family and many of the moderators here at length, I have decided to go to Maverick Transportation, Specialized Glass Division. My orientation start date is April 8th in North Little Rock. This is the next chapter of my trucking saga. My goal is to do updates on my travels with Maverick, including orientation. I just wanted to say thank you to Rainy, Brett, Old School and G-Town for offering up so much insight and personal knowledge as I made my transition.

Congratulations!

I deliver aluminum extrusions to a lot of our customers who are in the commercial window manufacturing business. I see Maverick glass trucks at many of these places. Maybe we will bump into one another one day. I've got several of these customers down in Florida. I don't know if you'll be running those lanes or not, but it would be super cool to meet you.

I looked at about 30 companies and ended up with 5 at the end. I took a lot of time looking on the web, talking to recruiters and talking to truckers at truck stops and did a ton digging around for answers here at TT. After a while I began to dwindle down that list and Maverick was the 1 of 2 Flatbed companies that were left on the list. In total I spent 6-7 weeks looking, and another 3-4 getting my number of Pros and Cons down to a good solid number of options. Truth is "doing your homework" pays off. I talked to 2-3 recruiters with every company I talked two and several times recruiters with the same company contradicted themselves when I asked the same question on a second phone call. It is ironic, and kinda sad, but like many of the moderators here have told me, "recruiters are there to get you in the door!" I really thought i was going to leave flatbed, and go to Reefer , but as it is, I am a flatbedder, so I couldnt bring myself to go. I just needed to find a company that was a better fit.
