You don't have to move or be close to a terminal or drop yard to get freight. You live in Massachusetts, there is plenty of freight there for most companies. Don't limit yourself to a company because they are close to you. When I started with CFI, I didn't know what a drop yard was, nor did I know we had one close to my house. Pick a company that fits your needs and go for it. Freight is booming right now.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Just as an example. Wolding has a single terminal. It is in Amherst, WI. I live in Clarksville, TN. Don't concern yourself with nearby terminals.

Can I expect to get average or better than average freight?
Roehl has a drop yard in Springfield which isn't too far from me and I could move if necessary
