I have no idea but id suggest you keep your CDL active. All you need to do is renew it and keep an up to date medical card. Most states will require you retest for your CDL if its been downgraded for 6-12 months. If your medical card expires they downgrade your license.

Does anyone know how long the DOT keeps records (driving records, physicals, etc)? I might stop driving to start a business with my wife. If I give up my CDL does the DOT delete their records on me?
Six months ago my identity was stolen and since then it's been a never ending Hell cleaning up the aftermath. Because of what happened I'm paranoid about who has my info and for how long etc. Thanks for any help.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
