They won’t officially offer you the job until you have that CDL. Good luck!

Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Christian try to stay grounded and focus all of your energy on school. The job will be there.
Not a dumb question.
When I got into this almost four years ago, I was surprised at how many companies are ready to hire us. You mean I don’t have to endure endless interviews, explaining why I’m changing careers in my 50’s?
Remember; even a pre-hire is ONLY a pre-hire and not a guarantee. Like Brett says; you’re interviewing the whole way through the process, even after you’re hired.
Good luck!

Thanks G-town and Steve for the encouragement.
Just remember, A pre hire is just that. It is a piece of paper officially acknowledging you meet the minimum requirements to be invited to orientation. The only thing guaranteed at that point is a bus ticket. While trucking doesn't have a traditional interview process, orientation is just one long interview. Everything is being evaluated. Appearance, attitude, skills, etc..
As an example, before Diane retired, she had told me when she took prospective drivers down to the local diner that first morning, she would just sit back and observe. She would watch how you would interact with the other potential drivers. Did you converse with them? What kind of conversation did you make? How did you interact with the waitress? Were you rude? Were you polite? Everything was being evaluated. If you did something to raise alarms, you got a bus ticket home when you got back from breakfast.

Probably a dumb question and since looking around on the site has me wondering.... I posted this in another thread, but figured this might be easier...... I got a call from US Xpress the other day and the person said that they had already ran my MVR , Criminal history, and Employment history (actually sent me copies of the report) and that they were interested in offering me a spot when I get out of my CDL class. They even discussed Regional lines and told me I could choose which one I wanted to do. Now my question is I did not get a "pre-hire letter" yet, the lady told me to call back during my first week of class to finalize things...... Just wondering if I have a job or not yet.... Like I said dumb question, anyone that might want to chime in with info on the company or your thoughts I would appreciate any info you could give me.... You all on here Rock and are Awesome.
