I have to agree. The HighRoad CDL course seems to be very good. Have I missed some questions? I sure have. Have I gone back and read and reread something because I missed the same question over and over. YUP! Then I either realized my mistake or I asked for help.

If you have made it trucking in the past, why are you having to redo CDL prep? Sounds like you already know it all. Maybe, you should go drop your money on the counter at DMV and take the test.

Ol and one more thing. THIS IS A FREE COURSE! They asked for no money! They are only trying to help you! Sadly, some people can not be helped. You can lead a horse to water. You can't make the stupid horse drink the water!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Well I just want to say to this that the program here has helped me immensely! Sure I was halted a few times and until I LEARNED what I was doing wrong I wasn't going to pass. I blew through my written state exam because of this program. I even sent fellow classmates of mine to this site for the High Road course and they all loved it! So I would like to echo others and say that you should take you SHI&&*^ attitude back over to the other trucking forums. You'll obviously fit right in!

I am coming to the trucking industry to get away from people just like you.

Oh, Mongo, buddy...the trucking industry is FILLED with guys just like that..trick is, knowing how to smile, nod and just work around them while they go on thinking they are the best thing since sliced bread, but something tells me, you already know how to do that...one of the missions of the good folks here at TT is to try and get the new guys coming into the industry to see that having a "I've seen it and done it all and there's nothing new anybody can teach or show me" attitude is why truckers are looked at and treated with contempt by the general population..humility and an open mind are the keys to changing the perception of our profession..just like the changing of the guard, the rookies have to be taught the better path now in order to make a better future..

Roadkill thanks for the words of encouragement. Being a Correctional officer at a prison is like being a redheaded stepchild in law enforcement. I am also a certified police officer but once someone sees the DOC patch on my shoulder all respect is lost.

So having a lot of negativity around me is not something new.

I have to give it to Brett. He has done a wonderful job with the study guide. I went to another site and tried the test. There was a thing or two I liked about it better. Like being able to take a complete test all at once and getting a score. But I digress. Without Brett and his program I would have failed completely.

Brett is great at what he does, and I am thankful for that. This is the best way I could have ever studied.

Its nice to see a fellow "Okie". rofl-3.gif I'm from Dewey, just north of Bartlesville now living in N. Charleston SC. I hope you and your family didn't freeze out the last 2 days.

Its rediciluouis how ungrateful some people are. That program took a very long time to build and Brett can easily make a profit off it but instead he gives it out for free.

And I don't understand this "ass kissing" business he is speaking about. True, Brett is the creator of this wonderful and helpful site but theres no reason to "suck up". We are all free people here, choosing to spend our time to help others because we genuinely care about the success of others in this industry. We don't get paid for it obviously and there are no raises being given out. Heck, I'm a Mod and I really should be on here more often to help folks out but I often don't have the time. Never have I recieved a message or threat from Brett ordering me to help people more than I am. There's no reason to ass-kiss, we are all people with the same interests and we get together here to help others find this amazing career and decide if its for them.

But, hey, TheTruckersReport is always looking for dumbasses. Feel free to join them, they love complaining just like you do!

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Ya wanna know one of the VERY BEST things about trucking that I like ????? You only have to deal with stupid people for very short periods of time !! And you generally will NEVER see them again !! whether it be a shipper , a receiver, a cashier, or another trucker....You choose whether you want to react to them or stand quiet in the knowledge that in a very short time, they will go away and keep living their miserable life. Now I didn't figure that out from driving truck....like Mongo, I also was a LEO. And thats where I learned, that no matter how bad someone treated me...I knew they were gonna go away...continue to be miserable..and I was gonna go about my day, not letting them push my buttons, and go home and enjoy my family. It was probably the only thing that saved me from mass murder when they would drag me in off the road, and make me work the jail. I'd wait until the inmate was done yellin' at me..and quietly remind them that at the end of my shift, they would still be here, and I'd be home, eating a good meal, and havin' a beer....It was the very best payback...And in trucking, it still holds true...no matter who's blowin' crap in the fan around you, you can choose to stand there and get hit, or you can go about your day....

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Hang in there! It will drive you nuts, but it will make sure that you are prepared properly.

OS, I was BORN NUTS, so that will never change. LOL.

I am very appreciative of the training program. Once I get closer to going back to school for retraining, I will get right to work on that and hopefully score 100% on my tests when I test out of the school and have my CDL back in hand.
