Is a CB handle something you choose for yourself or is it something that's appointed to you by others?confused.gif

CB Handle:

This is the nickname people use on the CB

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

It can be either.

Well maybe I'll get a nickname in school and use that. As long as it isn't cone killer or something like that.

Daniel,

I got my nickname from my old cert team partner. I helped him do keys and locks at my facility. So whenever he needed something torn apart some BFH power he called me to help. I know I destroyed more locks than I ever fixed.

Most people make up their own, but often times they come from nicknames others have given them. I love CB handles. I think it's cool to hear what people use. I changed mine up a couple of times early in my career but settled on "Rolling Stone" and used that most of my career. I got it from the old Bob Dylan song:

How does it feel

To be on your own

With no direction home

Like a complete unknown

Like a rolling stone.

I thought it fit me perfectly. I lived in the truck most of my years on the road. I've never been married, never had kids, and just lived wherever I happened to be. Didn't know a lot of people and didn't want to. Just liked being alone, doing my own thing. Most people will complain, "I don't want to be just a number. I want to be a name!" Well not me. I'm happy being anonymous, just a number in the crowd. I just lived on the road like a Gypsy for years and years. Absolutely loved it.

Brett,

I understand that mentality. Am I looking to get rich driving? No (that's what lotto tickets are for). Am I looking for a way to create a retirement plan? Yes. Am I looking for a new lifestyle that will challenge me and be personally rewarding? Yes. And if it doesn't work out then I can say that I tried and it wasn't for me, but I doubt that'll be the case.

Anyway When I was a teen my friends called me Boone. Anyone who has seen Night Breed will know the name. On line I go by Kalak, taken from a trilogy of books that I really liked. But with this new chapter in my life I feel a new name would be in order. So any suggestions will be given proper deliberation. I'm not necessarily looking for something unique but something that I feel fits me.

So people, please give me ideas. I don't know if anyone got a handle from Trucking Truth yet but I'm open to suggestions.

Daniel
