Sign on bonus is waaay down the list of important criteria when picking a company.
Plus a lot of people are under the impression that you'll get it all upfront, when in reality it's paid over your first year normally.
Just looking for information on companies hiring new drivers who just got their CDL. What company gives the best sign on bonus? What company does a good job of training rookies? I'm in the position to apply to a company starting next week and looking for some input from those who have gone before me. Thanks for any input!
Basically, the best company is the one that will hire you. :)
Fortunately, if you have a clean criminal, driving, and drug history, you will probably have a few choices, so the next qualifier is which ones are hiring in my area, what routes do they run, what kind of home time, what do they haul, etc. Figure out what is important to you, apply to those companies and pick the one that looks best that will hire you.
Starting bonus is all well and good, but is an extra $500 or $1000 in starting bonus enough to make up for working at a company or route you don't like, or not getting the home time you want, etc?
