I can't help you much about the Sage trucking school.
But I can provide some information about Watkins & Shepard.
We have a member here who is working for them. His name is Tracy W. Otherwise known as "Epic Beard" because of his epic beard.
As a bonus, here is a thread I've found where someone was seeking information about the company. Very informative.
Thread about Watkins & Shepard
On top of all of that, here is a link to a thread where Epic Beard documented his experiences with Watkins & Shepard.
That should be more than enough information about that company. Someone else will come in with information about Sage trucking.
Oops, I didn't submit the link request. Sorry about that.
Here is the thread where Tracey documented his experiences at Watkins & Shepard.

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
ERIK !!!! I remember you !!! I'm glad you never gave up on your dream !!! And now you can watch it come true !!! how the heck cool is that !!! I've not heard anything bad about Sage Schools. They are in differnt areas of the states, I believe. So you should be good there. TSB and I leased our truck on with Watkin Shepard for the last 12 years. We were treated well, and all the office staff were friendly, helpful ,and, above all else...HONEST... And I'm sure "Epic Beard" aka Tracey will echo our experiences. So you sound ready to get it rollin'..keep us informed...and we'll help all we can.
Well, from what I'm hearing Watkins Shepard isn't too bad a place to start. Obviously I won't try to get a pre-hire from just one company. I need a lot. I'm just trying to find those with terminals in Las Vegas. But I really do appreciate the feedback. It's also good to have you guys keep me moving in the right direction. Over the next few months I'm going to have lots of questions for you.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
Why companies only in Los Vegas? Company location does not matter. You get to take your truck home.
I work for Werner and they are based in Ohama NE and i live in Arkansas. They only thing that should matter is the company hiring from your location?
Guyjax is right. I can take the truck home with me. One reason I want to live near a terminal is that on my off time the truck can be serviced more frequently if I an always take it to a terminal. Why Las Vegas? Well, I live just outside of Vegas and I grew up here. My folks are still here and I want to be nearer to them now that they're getting older. I will relocate if I have to but being here is my first choice.

Hello y'all!!!! I was on this forum about a year ago while I was working and living overseas. At that time I became interested in returning home and getting into trucking. There was only one drawback. Living outside the US meant that I wasn't driving with a US driver's license. I was told once I got back home I would have to wait one year after getting my license again before I could start my new career in trucking. Well, that time is now getting close. I have been in contact with Sage trucking school in Idaho where I plan to do my training. At the same time I have put in an application with "Watkin Shepard Trucking". So far so good. So at this time I want to ask if anyone had been to Sage turcking school and what was your impression. Also, does anyone work for or had worked for Watkin Shepard?
It's good to be back and I haven't given up on my dream of getting into trucking even after this long delay. All good things comes to those who wait I suppose. Looking forward to your replies.
