The more I think about it the more that makes sense. Being foodgrade it will be unbaffled. I would like to give it a shot, but I am not naive enough to think I will be an exception to the rule and be great at something clearly difficult. Something for me to think on and I have time.

You should absolutely forget about this for a while. Put it out of your mind.

You have no earthly idea what you are really saying here...it’s not about meeting a challenge, or doing your best, it’s about experience or lack-thereof and having no intuitive ability to handle a heavy truck of any kind, let alone one that will literally push you through an intersection.

Or one curve too fast, swerve, etc., and you flip and hurt or kill yourself or someone else. Wait at least until you have a year in learning how to handle heavy loads of cargo, then maybe move to tankers if it still interests you.

Baffle:

A partition or separator within a liquid tank, used to inhibit the flow of fluids within the tank. During acceleration, turning, and braking, a large liquid-filled tank may produce unexpected forces on the vehicle due to the inertia of liquids.

No, I get it, perhaps I worded my response incorrectly but I understand.

Just putting out there that I got the message loud and clear: Tanker is a bad idea for newbies. This is why I posted here, I wanted honest opinion from truckers who know what I cannot. Going into it with zero ability and knowledge I'm not looking to do something stupid, or put myself in danger.

Take a large Gator Aid bottle, fill it half way, tighten up the cap, turn over on its side. Now more e it like a truck. See all the slosh?

I drove fuel and chemical tankers before, but never a food grade tanker. These are new kind of animal.

Start off with dry van or refer. They have regional runs out there. Don't limit yourself to just one or two companies. Use the 3 bars in the top left corner of the page and apply to as many as you can and see who responds. But as Rainy said, the more home time the less money.

Good luck, and know the TT family will help you out as much as possible, but in the end, it's your decision.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Howdy folks, thanks again for the straight forward advice, I am all ears, I want this to be a success and I always want to hear from the pros.

I'm going to start a journal soon, I should be going within the next week or so since all the initial screenings are taken care of. I want to do videos but I don't know the policy about linking them in the forum so once I figure that out I'll either share them in my journal or just type it out.

Anyway, figured it doesn't hurt to add my specific life situation to the journal section for anyone like me out there, I'm sure there's a few.

I'll be in touch.
