Did my first delivery to Detroit a few days ago and on the delivery instructions on the Qualcomm it said do not remove padlock until you are backing into the doors. It said they have a lot of theft on their own lot... when I got there I understood. Looked like I was in a war zone... first time I've ever locked my truck on the consignee property when I went to the receiving office.
The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.
Unfortunately, this happens in a bunch of areas. Many do not have the reputation of Detroit, Chicago, LA or Houston.
