On March 5 both the United States Senate and House of Representatives introduced bills requiring trucking companies to install underguards on trucks and trailers that will prevent vehicles from riding underneath the truck or trailer in the event of a crash.

Anything that can safe lives, I’m all for it.

However without other correctable action being implemented in the state driver codes, this is only a band-aid and ignores the real problem.

Driving is a privilege, and NOT a God-Given right. It’s a skill, responsibility and must be developed and evaluated. Most people I observe are disturbingly unskilled and ambivalent with heir driving. Things change as we age and mature...but what typically doesn’t change, with very few exceptions is the driver’s license is all but a permanent fixture of our person, as if it was likened to an individual birth right.

Think about this...(please), how much proactive driver training, evaluation and retesting occurs in the United States beyond what we receive at age 16 or 17? It’s laughable and disturbing that we tend to focus on the symptom and not the root cause of the problem. This is just one more example of that.

It sounds to me like they are hoping to save the lives of Tesla owners who are using auto-pilot. smile.gif
