Local news station says six truckers turned out for Missouri ‘slow roll’ By Ashley -March 27, 2019 CDL Life

A small group of truckers participated in a “slow roll” convoy in Missouri to protest over-regulation in the trucking industry today.

The slow roll started in Joplin, Missouri, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27. A convoy of semi trucks along with a MODOT vehicle travelled at about 45 m.p.h. on I-44 to Stafford.

The protest event was organized with help from members of the Black Smoke Matters group.

Local news station KY3 reported that organizers had hoped for dozens of truckers to participate in the convoy but said that they only counted six trucks.

The “slow roll” is leading up to a planned nationwide protest event set to begin on April 12 during which many drivers say that they will be parking their trucks to raise awareness about problems within the trucking industry like the ELD Mandate, truck driver training standards, Hours of Service problems, and lack of safe truck parking.
