Brian, I have some advice...don't believe the owner. You said in your other thread you had three drivers? That's a small company, I don't believe there's any way she didn't know about it and would be surprised if it wasn't her idea.
Coming from a corporate background i believe this to be true. Treat her and your meeting like your talking to HR. A previous post by Diehl said something with regards to a misunderatanding and or miscommunication go with that. "I was under the impression" is another good phrase. Its not very confrontational which is what you want to avoid. Odds are as an owner she knows more than she lets on. As for your friend this owner obviously trusts him so you are already at a disadvantage...... Play it cool.
Yes Hobo, we are a very small company. We actually have only 10 trucks. There are 5 tractors, two of which are OTR. We also run 2 tandem straight trucks, which I drive one. The. There are 2 single axle straight trucks and then 1 Dually truck.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".
Could it be he is watching out for your own interest i dont know the whole story but it sounds like maybe you have no combination vehicle experience besides trucking school? Its a much different world out here with a truck n trailer than a straight job i know i drove log truck for years
A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.
