Welcome to the TT website, Michael E. I’m going to be willing to bet that JP is like most of the major OTR companies are, in that for each week out, you will get one day off at home.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
The main option that I’ve been looking into has been the CDL training that JP offers. This isn’t 100% yet but I’m leaning more toward this option than a local private CDL school

1 day off per 7 on. Max is 5 days off in a row. Way it works is one would call their FM and make a request a few weeks in advance. Before ya know it, you're home! If you sign on with the regional fleet you can het home often.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

New CDL student here and I’m having trouble finding very much info about the home time policy for Jim Palmer trucking. It seems like an awesome company and a great place to start my trucking career. Any info on what the home time for a driver from California would look like would be much appreciated!
