If you are on the Illinois tollway and find yourself headed into the "cash" lanes instead of the Ipass, do not panic and cut across the median causing everyone to have to come to a near stop. All lanes take Ipass/ Prepass/ Ezpass, just go to the both wait for the blue light and wave at the nice person who opens the gate for you.

I wont mention the company name, but today is not the first time this has happened to me.

I’ve seen that happen a bunch, too. I’ve also gotten jammed up where I could not stay left for the EZPass and ended up at the booth. Better than cutting across traffic any day. Good point, Bobcat Bob.

A majority of the booths on 294 for the cash option also have an ezpass on the far left of all the lanes. Its not open road 55mph toll its 15mph but definitely a better option than cutting back over.

This has happened to me on the Ill Annoy tollway, and I did wonder if they were going to impound my truck give me jail time. But like you say, they are used to having this happen.

Good tip! Also...if your exit is really close to a toll (can happen)... use the cash lane for a safer and easier exit.
