AWESOME NEWS MOSES!
Sounds like you are ready - (as ready as one can be, anyway), and you have a great attitude and approach.
Congratulations on the lost weight and debt-free status.
If you can do that...
Nothing wrong with being nervous. We were all were starting out. Nobody was born knowing how to do this.
When you're learning to back go slow and ask questions. I tell you this because it's hard to not resort to instincts in the beginning. You can always turn here for tips and advice. While it's hard to explain it without showing, people on here will do there best. Best of luck to you.

Hello,
As the title implies, I am taking the plunge on 8/26. I received my med card today (1 year due to diagnosed sleep Apnea , I am on cpap treatment and have been since the early 2000s). This is a leap of faith for me. I originally posted about 2 years ago on the forum, I was in a different place than I am now. I was about 100 pounds heavier (it has taken me over 2 years to lose that amount of weight) and thought I was ready , but realized I needed to slow it down and deal with some things in my personal life. It has helped that my family and friends have gotten on board with my career change decision. I am fortunate in that I have such a wonderful support system now (it has really made all the difference). This has truly been a life change for me. Over the last 2 years : 1) I gave up my "luxury" apartment (overpriced really if you ask me) and moved into a smaller , older unit for cheaper rent. 2) I worked at being debt free and just made my final credit card balance pay off today (cant tell you how good that felt!). 3) Worked on my health to the best of my ability. 3) Went on a couple of ride alongs with a local delivery company (running parts from Portland to Seattle.
Life is looking up and positive. I have one more doctor appointment tomorrow to get an old knee injury evaluated (Xray) as it has been bothersome lately , but barring any complications with that I will be good to go.
The biggest truck I have ever driven is my Ford Ranger (2002), never even backed up a trailer (on anything) - but I have decided I am going to learn or go down fighting. Even had my first phone pre-screening with a trucking company (May Trucking) which runs a regional dryvan and coast to cast Reefer in the lower 48 today (reefer, goes all over I am learning).
I have had to learn to just be humble about this and admit that sometimes I dont even know what questions to ask to get the answers I need to be successful (if that makes sense). So I am taking it day by day. I realize I will be learning a trade which I can take anywhere I need or want to go.
I want to thank this forum, indirectly and directly you guys have helped me the last couple of years as I have been on this journey of career change. I was going to re-read the CDL training manuals found on this site. Is it okay to say that I have butterflies in my stomach and I fear falling flat on my face and disappointing the ones that I love or will that make me look weak lol.
I hope to share more with you all on this journey. Thank you especially to Rainy , alot of her articles are well written and she even challenged me a couple of years ago in the comments section of a post I had made - I got mad about it at the time lol but looking back it helped me grow.. Thank you for the wealth of info on here.
Ill see yall out there soon...
