Today I was traveling east on the 30 in Illinois west of the I-65 in Indiana. I got a pop-up message on the navigation screen on my Qualcomm letting me know someone was trying to pair up with it and asking if I wished to allow the pairing. I hit no. Have you ever had this happen and what purpose would it serve for someone to link to it, think I was being hacked?

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

I’ve never had that happen with any AOBRD or ELD. Perhaps it was just a momentary glitch?

I'm with PackRat - I've never experienced that, and your experience is the first I've ever heard of such an event. Probably Russian collusion. shocked.png

Yeah kinda surprised me as well. I've never seen anything like it. Had trucker path open on my phone and nothing happened on it. Dont really know why someone would try to pair up with a qualcomm anyways. All I can think is someone trying to pair up to passerbys phones for nefarious purposes.

Did not want to put it this way but you have Eastern European outfits (the small carriers) in Chicagoland that specialize in that. One of my clients is constantly fining one of his drivers $500 every month because he is always hacking his Elog and speed governor. They sometimes get caught. hwy patrol is wising up to it

Elog:

Electronic Onboard Recorder

Electronic Logbook

A device which records the amount of time a vehicle has been driven. If the vehicle is not being driven, the operator will manually input whether or not he/she is on duty or not.

Someone's trying to steal your 11-hour clock.
