Well things have been going great so far with Crete, they are a lot more stricter on a lot of things compared to Schneider. Tomorrow is my last day of orientation, then ill be assigned my own truck. They also assign a mentor to all new employees, drivers who volunteer their time to help new crete drivers in case we forget how to do something a certain way, etc.

So do you have to have a mentor? I hope I never have to have anyone in the tractor with me again. I don't know people can't stand to team. To each his/her own.

But glad that you like it so far. Keep us posted.

The mentor at Crete is someone you call. They are not in the truck.

This. It's just an experience driver who has worked for Crete for X amount of time, who we can call if we ever have any questions about anything Crete related. So we dont have to bother our DM , etc for simple things.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Awesome! I'm waiting to go to Orientation with them out of their terminal in Wilmer, TX. I have to go with a trainer first. Best wishes

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Thank you! So far so good, I have to get used to using macros and peoplenet since i was on another system at Schneider, and used workflow which Crete does not. But no problem!

Good luck during orientation and training!

Congratulations!

My home terminal is out of West Memphis, AR. Conveniently they had one there, I didn't know until I was talking to the recruiter last week haha.

Forgot to mention new Crete drivers are required to use paper logs during your first 8 days of employment. since you are required to use them during orientation to prove you can, and they said it's easier to track your hours that way and eventually the logs department will update your ELDs to reflect what paper logs you submitted.

I was a little confused since we need to log into our ELDs to get our load assignments, so itll log what we are doing as well?

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
