Traveling Sunday 12/2/19 to Missouri for orientation and school. Something kind of weird about a 1 way ticket 😉. Full of hope to keep a great attitude and stick out year one of this new adventure. I’ve read a lot of blog posts the past month and watched YouTube videos. Still feel clueless, but if I had to choose 1 goal to remain focused on it would be “attitude”. It quite frankly may be the *only* item within my direct control rookie year. Lol! Cheers and hope all had a Happy Thanksgiving.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

That narrows it down to 323 miles. Guess it's a secret.

Good luck

Welcome to our forum Blue J, and welcome to the wonderful world of trucking!

I travel up and down the 323 miles of I-81 through Virginia almost twice a week. In fact I'm scheduled to make that trek this week. I'm leaving Louisiana tomorrow and running a load up into Connecticut.

We're glad to have you out from the shadows. I hope you'll bring any questions or concerns you have while training to our forum. There's plenty of people here who have been in your shoes, and they will be willing to help in any way they can.

Congratulations on making these first steps toward a future career!

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Welcome Blue J!

I encourage starting a training diary. I love reading them and they were quite helpful when I went through in September.

One piece of advice that I kept in mind the whole time is that the process is like a long job interview. 2 months long... breathe, smile, and nod. When I would get flustered I kept that in mind and thanked the teachers, mentors, receivers, everyone.

There’s a gob to learn. Just put one foot in front of the other and the next thing you will know is that you will be solo.

Welcome!

Cheers,

G

Always love those runs through the Shenandoah Valley and take them when offered.
