Really just depends on the trooper, the trooper who did my test back in 2018 was fine with me pointing to each part naming it, and explaining the type of defects I would be looking for. I did my state exam in Hotsprings, AR.

Love Hot Springs. Im my area I am positive its different. Walmart home office, J.B Hunt home office, U.S.A Truck home office, Tyson home office, ect... Home office area they are strict. Not sure where he is testing. Still miss hot Springs did Honeymoon and multiple anniversaries there.

Maybe not U.S.A trucking but for sure PAM. Have you dug around Murfreesboro? Found a stone or two great spot.

I'm not trying to sound unsympathetic here, because I am truly sorry to hear you are having issues passing the pre trip. Regardless of who is testing you, you must do it correctly.

Are you practicing it the same way every time? Keeping everything in the same order so you dont miss anything?

Is it a specific part of the pre trip they are failing you for? Brake test? There is no room for error on the brake test.

The pretrip here is awesome! Couple of online videos are good too.

I made "cue-cards" (4" x 6") from list given in class. About 8 "flash cards" sorted by section, edited a bit to "improve" them. Happy to share. Even resorted to recording myself doing it and playing it back a few times.

I got the "easy" test... (front of tractor to back of tractor, + coupling devices, of course), but am confident I could have passed any/all.
