Get a cement mixer job local pay usually good @ hourly Rate n home nightly most of the time
Have you looked into driving for Amazon?
Have they started hiring their own drivers yet? I know there have been rumors but I haven't actually seen any of their trucks. With how many O/O pulling amazon trailers I see in the ditch almost every time it snows it would allow people to get their stuff its it's crazy. I even seen a O/O stuck in the mud in the median yesterday on a completely dry, straight section of I-35. 130am, my guess is he fell asleep.
Driving for a small fleet owner isnt ideal but unfortunately you don't have a ton of options. Have you asked any of the megas that do their own school if you surrender your CDL and start from scratch if that will allow them to accept you? Another option may be to see if there are any city/state jobs near you that require a Class A to move equipment. That path would likely have more physical labor such as landscaping or filling potholes though, and driving would not be primary duty.
Thanks Rob. Haven't see any Amazon tractors in my area yet. Lots of OO's, the occasional JB Hunt (was supposed to be my 1st solo gig), and when it snows usually one Prime trailer and OO tractor in the ditch!
Definitely looking to drive as a primary gig... getting to old for "all that other stuff".
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

Thanks Stevo. Sorry, but that one doesn't work for me at all.
Looking to see the country and planning on staying out for an extended period of time (largely living in my truck). "Home nightly" neither appeals to nor works for me.

The Amazon across from my terminal where my brother works has started using their own day cabs.
Dont get me started on their O/Os between the semis and box trucks it can be very frustrating around our terminal.
Today it was snowing and there where 2 plows with their side extensions out on 355 so they where blocking the whole road. A Amazon O/O was in such a hurry he passed them on the snow and ice covered shoulder at about 55+ MPH.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Day Cab:
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.
