Took a road test for a regional flatbed carrier yesterday morning. Passed (it wasn't too difficult, but the 45 degree back was much tighter than I previously practiced). It was nice to be in an automatic. Tested in a 2019 Mack Anthem. I reached for the gear shift 3 or 4 times. :-) That carrier offered me a position starting Monday.

I also still have offers from a local grain hauler (hourly pay, no time off in the Fall) and offers from Schneider, Werner, and another regional.

Yeah... some folks think flatbed cargo will fall sharply soon. But that's okay. If you recall, I retired early from my first career, so a money pinch would be more tolerable.

Guess I better ponder my decision. If I go with the flatbed my journey will start soon.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
