Hi all, and happy Memorial Day weekend! I’m a new driver with PAM Transport. Going on 3 months now OTR. I drive a 2020 Peterbilt 579 with factory installed coaxial and antenna mounted to rear of the cab. 4’ I think that comes up just to the top of the rear faring. I want to get a Cobra 29lx and install it. Any/all suggestions invited and welcome. Specifically regarding SWR sync and location? I’m happy to be enjoying the weekend at home, but the driveway has power lines over it and some trees around. Otherwise the area is elevated a bit compared to the surrounding area. Should I just wait til I get to a clearer spot? Anybody have experience with truck truck model and radio I want to get?

Thanks in advance and hope everyone is safe and comfy! Kevin

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

I do not think your location will make any difference when setting up system. Just have a SWR meter and know how to use it and set your antenna. Location can make a difference in using a CB but not in installing.

Thanks Joseph! I picked it up today at a Love’s on sale. Got a meter too. I’ll get it set up tomorrow and let you know how it goes. 👍
