Hi everyone,I'm fairly new to the forum. Im trying to attend Swift Academy located in Memphis,TN. Do they do hair and UA tests or just UA. I'm getting mixed answers. I take prescriptions for anxiety and schizophrenia. Your response will be very appreciated. Thank you.thank-you.gif

I take prescriptions for anxiety and schizophrenia.

Bubbles, you have to list all the prescriptions you take on the accompanying federal form they give you with your drug test. So, you don't need to be concerned with which type drug test you go through. They are already going to know about your prescription meds because you will have already revealed them. It's also best to have the medications with you, and in their original labeled container given you by the pharmacy.

Those two conditions you mentioned are often treated with drugs the D.O.T. may not allow. There's another issue here too. These trucking companies can determine what additional prescription meds they don't allow. I recommend you tell us which medications you are taking. Some of us may be able to give you some additional guidance based on that information.

Don't even think about trying to hide your prescription meds when starting this career. It's not going to go well for you if you think that's a smart move.

I just started with SWIFT ... Orientation was three weeks ago and YES, they did take a whole bunch of my hair, in addition to urine, for drug testing. As Old School said, DO NOT HIDE your legal prescription drugs. Make sure you have doctor's orders properly documented. That way, you are not to be blamed. But there is a possibility that if you are on some prescription that marks you as a high risk for safety (e.g., epilepsy medication) you are considered ineligible for driving an 80,000 lbs vehicle on the road.

Hi Old School. Definitely will list them on my application. Its been since Jan 4th since I took my medication. For my anxiety I took Diazepam. With my schizophrenia I took Antipsychotic. Now the last time I took that medication was in late March. I've been doing great without them. And I'm not gonna lie Old School. I wanted to hide them. But I started thinking the worse if they find out anyway. Will place everything thing I took in the past months and why. Will just have just have to wait and see what they will say at the end. Hoping for a good outcome, but I'm thinking opposite. Thanks Old School.
