Generally once you make your 1 year mark you are considered an experienced driver. Alot never make 90 or 180 days so 365 is a true accomplishment.
Too your first question. Sounds like they are going to run you regional once you complete training. The miles depend on alot of factors and can vary week to week. Most companies have a good routing loop on those, however things can and will change time to time. A friend of mine ran regional awhile and his miles were right around 2600 a week.
initially they will move a bit slower while you are first learning. Your miles will be lower, but pickup as you gain experience. The main thing you always need to remember is concentrate on the moment. Don’t get ahead of yourself. That is when bad things usually happen. This is a complex industry. Many things go on behind the scenes most drivers never know about. Keep the lines of communication open with your dispatcher , learn your craft well and good things will come too you.
Right now concentrate on starting school and soaking up the knowledge. Remember school and orientation is a drawn out job interview.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
Thank you so much PJ for your knowledge. Will definitely take notes. I guess I was getting alittle to ahead of my self. Your completely right about just slowing down and just focusing on school and getting my mind and body ready for training. Super nervous since my date is coming up quicker than I can count.
And I've been on TT daily for the past 2 months, reading about alot of people who just started training, went out with a trainer and upgraded to solo and decided to leave soon after for various reasons. I told myself that's not gonna be me. But to be honest...my mindset completely changed because I don't know what could happen. All I can do is pray on it and hope things turn out,if not great, than good. I'm not gonna lie but making it to the 1 year mark in trucking is gonna make me prance like a little school girl who found out her dad bought her a puppy and a set of barbie dolls lol.
And thank you for answering my second question. I'm definitely aiming for that "Experience Driver rank"

Small steps for now, Bubbles.
Successful completion at CDL training; lots of knowledge when out with your trainer; the big day when you are assigned your own truck; making it safely finishing your first load; no major problems after your first month; gaining a grasp on successful backing problems; getting better at trip planning and click management, etc.
It's all small steps that go from start to an indefinite future target. For some it's a goal of making a bunch of money as quickly as possible. For others it may be to see all of the Lower 48 states. Perhaps it's just the freedom of a job without someone looking over your shoulder every few minutes. Some are out here with no goals, only taking it a mile at a time.
You'll get there as long as you put your mind and dedication to it.

PackRat I absolutely love your response and couldn't agree more. Will take things slow. It will devastate me to the extreme if I mess up what I love to do. I have great passion for trucking and I would want to feel the same way for years to come. Like I wrote to PJ,I'm beyond excited to start this career. I put it off for 3 years, finally everything got put into place where I can start rolling this year.
Just the thought that I have no less than 15 days left is CRAZY...I went from 6 months to a 15 day countdown. Will definitely take my time and pack in alot of knowledge.

Well said, PackRat, well said. I may never 'be' a driver myself, per se; but sure understand the semantics. I love that post, and almost 'tag' my OWN self in this.
Bubbles...the ups, downs, highs, lows . . . are STILL a part of life for my hubby, yet I still aspire to drive when my last kiddo graduates, haha!
One more thing: One of my FAVORITE (yet scary and sad) threads on TT, is a gentleman that perhaps got overzealous, perhaps, too excited and/or complacent.... or just didn't 'watch his wagon.' (If you mods are mad at me sharing this; I'm sorry. I've read this so many times myself, for my own household reasons.) I'll share the link, and leave YOU to reading the numerous posts by this 'keep on keepin' on' guy. Here ya go; hang on to your hat, mask, bandanna, whatever:
Wish he were still around the forum; he contributed A LOT after the 'incident.' Some of MANY OF the 'older' threads on here, are amazing.
KEEP IN MIND, Errol V.'s ' backing practice' threads.....that I wish he didn't quit posting. Look at the archives, though!
Again, wishing you well, Bubbles. I know, you've switched up, what... 5 or 6 times on company training; understandable in Covid times. I'm hoping this final choice works amazingly well for you.

Woooahhh with that last statement are those hints of what's to come in the future😃? But yes you're absolutely right. While on the road there will be good days, bad, crazy, calm and days of just wanting to give up.But gotta keep pushing. As of right now I'm training myself not to go so hard, not to overdue myself.

Oh My wowzers am I afraid of the backing part of trucking? BEYOND! *sweats* Hopefully I get better at the time of being trained and as I continue doing the same procedure over and over again as a solo driver.

I swer it feel like 30 times lol
Also I'm definitely going to read the thread. How you described it, I just know I'm gonna learn alot from it. Will also on backing as I'm terrified of performing it.
Thank you so much Anne!!!!
Always welcome, m'lady. In many ways.. I guess I wish I 'were' you, haha! Young and .. 'just me!' I paid for Tom to go through school, and raised our 2 kids.
Do your research; look through Errol V.'s backing practice. Not sure why he quit the series, but now that he IS an actual school instructor, thinking he's 'over it' ... LoL~!
I don't need any 'Woot Woot' cheers, but thanks! Bounce that off the AMAZING moon this weekend, and send 'em back you you, gal~!!
Again, the best is what I hope for ... for you! Find your niche' ~ you will, you are~!!!
Just me...
Thank you Anne. Will do for sure. & Have an amazing 4th of July!!

Hi y'all!! For the past few weeks everyone here at Trucking Truth has been helpful to a rookie driver who just moved in the trucking world. I have a quick question. I will be attending Titan Transfer training and also work for them. Since I will be going home (possibly) every weekend, how many miles should I aim to do everyday/week? I'm the type of person who drives to do more. So (for example) as soon as I dropped off one load,I'm ready for another. I really do push myself, hopefully I don't to hard. You guys & gals responses will be very appreciated.
Thank you.
OH!! Also what milestone does everyone change their rankings in Trucking Truth under their name?
I see "Experience Driver", "Considering a Career"...alot others. Just would like to know lol
Again Thank you all😊
