Training Backlogs?

Hello all, I've been lurking in this forum for a few months now and am finally ready to get the ball rolling with training. I think I've settled on Prime inc but am open to other suggestions for a training company.

I've searched high and low and don't want to take the lack of information as any kind of positive affirmation. Has anyone heard about any backlog for orientation/cdl training? I'm wondering how the reduced class sizes have affected the training timeline. I'm thinking about submitting my application within the next two or three weeks but am curious (if selected) how long I can expect to wait before beginning orientation. Any and all help and dialogue on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Michael

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Kearsey can probably answer that for you, but a quick phone call to your recruiter or email to them will get you an accurate response.

Hi. Prime has reduced class size due to COVID and instead of bringing everyone in on Mon.... Now people come in on Mon or Wed.

They have weekly updates in recruiting limiting areas of hire. For example Charlotte spiked in COVID so they postponed hiring from there temporarily.

I haven't heard of anyone having to wait to come in other than COVID hotspots. Once you apply and are accepted you will be expected to come to orientation within 30 days of your application.

Prime "schooling" is one on one with a CDL instructor. We have plenty of those. 😄 Women who request a non smoking female team trainer may have a little waita little bit once they pass the CDL. But as far as I Know, there is no wait to get into orientation.

Hope this helps. Good luck
