Bump! just trying to keep this topic at the top.
One thing I liked about the old forum was that you could view most of the topics on one page without scroling too much. These seem to be spaced rather far apart.

Yeah, they are. It's fine for desktop and tablets, but it's a little spaced out for mobile phones. Are you using your phone for this? If so, I'm going to be creating a mobile version of the site and the main listing of topics will look completely different. I think I'm only going to list the minimum we need - the subject, the last post time, and maybe the name of the person who posted last. I might also include the name of the person who started the topic. We'll see.
But I agree - the listing of topics is pretty "scrolly" on a phone. I think once you're in a topic it's going to look the same as the desktop version.
Then again, I may include a "settings" button that allows people to toggle between different views (a condensed view versus the desktop view for instance) and also choose from different themes so they can have different color schemes.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Actually I was using my phone and my laptop . And thought they were a bit scrolly for both.
Alright - I'll come up with some alternatives and we'll see how they look. Hopefully I'll have something later today to show ya.
Looks great so far, I'm using my Samsung galaxy s2, haven't logged in on my computer yet.
Looks great so far. Noticed a few things. 1)As a paragraph gets towards the end the words have a while shadow. Makes it hard to read.
2)Need the ability to stay logged in. While not that big of an issue for computers some people may only have a very short time to read and having to log in each and every time you go to the new forum will be a pain.
3)Can a "mark thread as new or unread" button to added?
4)I know its not my phone or connection as I am connected at 12.3mb on 4G but I am noticing a lot of lag when it comes to typing words and then having them show up one or two seconds later. The old forums printed the word the second you typed it.
5) I am using the Galaxy Nexus and the spacing of the forum topics are fine for me. If the link is to small I can stretch the page a make it bigger.

WHITE shadow that is

I eliminated the text shadow. I was going to try to make it a more mellow color but couldn't get that to look right so that's been eliminated.

Yap, that's on my list. Will definitely extend the time you can be logged in
3)Can a "mark thread as new or unread" button to added?
That's an interesting thought. I was pondering that myself. Let me add that to the list and take a look at that idea to see what I can come up with.

Yeah, as you're typing it's counting the characters you're entering. I'm gonna take a look at that code and see if I can lighten up the code a bit.

Excellent.
Great help! I added several things to my list.
New! Check out our help videos for a better understanding of our forum features
Welcome aboard! Right now we're simply testing the functionality. I'm looking for all the feedback I can get so don't be shy about expressing your opinions - that's why we're here.
So far we have a limited set of features activated and I'll be adding more in the next two weeks or so.
Right now we have:
1) Photos - you can insert photos from the web in our conversations. Photo upload from your computer or phone is not available yet but will be soon.
2) You can subscribe to topics - you will receive an email anytime there is a response
3) You will see a "quote" button on each person's post. You can click that and it will automatically insert their post into a new comment.
There are a lot of small features built in but I won't list them all. I'll let you discover them as we use the forum and we can figure out together how we want the final product to look and function
There are a ton of features that I'll be installing or upgrading over the next couple of weeks. Here's an idea of what's in store:
1) The ability to add tags to each topic 2) Allow people to edit their own posts 3) Photo uploads 4) An optional location detection will allow us to post where you were at the time of the comment 5) Private Messaging - not enabled yet but will be pretty soon 6) List the total number of views per topic soon 7) Smilies will be available so we can insert all the little funny faces and such 8) Profiles will be far nicer than they are now. Only the basics are in right now
There are a lot more we're considering. So please - speak up and let me know what you think. What I'd like you to do is start a new topic for every new idea, feature request, and question. That way we will have different discussions on different topics.
I doubt anything we discuss right now will remain a permanent part of the forum. We'll play around with this for a short time, gather ideas, implement them, and when we're ready to open this up to more people we'll go ahead and erase the topics and start clean.
So go ahead - start some new topics, try subscribing to some, and we'll make this thing awesome!
