My wife and I have decided to work towards team driving and have just received our learners permits. We currently live in Las Vegas and are looking for a good place to start with on the job training or to just finish up with a cdl school. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Check out THIS for starters ... and when you get this 'under your belts' .... one of the 'veteran drivers' of the site will probably chime in with more detailed information.

We ALWAYS recommend company paid/sponsored training; especially in these 'interesting' times, of 2020. You probably won't need the 'last checkmark' link in this packet, since you all have your permits, but .... the VERY LAST ONE will help you tremendously!
