How bout a tag for crash scenes, drivers get delayed for this and can remind us to stay safe out there. I like the idea about being able to like a picture or this is awesome, would be cool to see (this pic has 25 awesomes or likes).

I agree. I think that would help bring the really awesome photos to the surface for everyone to see.

Oh man......I don't know. Do we want a bunch of pictures of crash scenes? eeeessh. I mean, I'm not against it necessarily and it's obviously the reality we face out there but....I don't know. hmmmmmmm......I hadn't even thought of that. I guess there's no reason not to have that tag. It is something we'll get pictures of after all.

Two features I would like is to favorite or thumbs up a photo and the more thumbs up it gets it stays towards the top. Kind of a ranking system if you will like the comments on youtube. More like it moves to the top of the Main photo album everyone sees.

And let's eliminate all the photo sharing sites so it makes link photos IN post essier. Maybe a link to photos in the "Links on Trucking Truth" option in a post and it adds it like it does the smileys.

Those are two things I see that would be great options to have for photos.

Absolutely to all of that!

As far as viewing the photos by number of thumbs up or "awesomes", that will be an option in the menu. In fact, I was just building that menu and I forgot about that one. So that's going to be there. You'll click a button and it will load the ranked photos by highest ranking first.

Same with "favorites". I'll allow people to set photos as their favorites. They'll click the button and their favorites will come up

As far as adding photos to posts....

I'm going to add an "upload" button so people can upload photos from their own computer or device. In fact, you will be able to upload photos into your gallery or for use in a forum post.

I'm also going to have a way where you can choose photos from the gallery like you mentioned. I'm not sure how I'll do it yet but I like the way you mentioned. Show a little box with the photos in it like we're doing for the smileys. I think that might work really well.

Excellent! Keep the ideas and the photos comin!

Yea once the box opens to show the photos it will allow you to scroll through the entire main group photos and you click the one you want.

I know some post can be very long and adding photos to a post can take up an incredible amount of space. Maybe assign a character value to pics to keep people from posting 25 pics in a post. I know this part sound a bit unneeded but might be something to think about.

Ok, we have an update! I now have a menu on the left side of the photo gallery pages and the first two menu items are working so far. The rest I still have to build.

But you can now view all photos by date, which will show the newest ones first, and you can view all photos by user.

I've also added "Photo Gallery" to the "Menu" button in the top right corner of every page so you can get to it from anywhere now. It may take a few hours for that menu item to show up on some pages because of the caching system I'm using but it will be there by dinner time today at the latest.

Here's the photo gallery:

And one last thing. Almost every phone and digital camera nowadays can send the geographic coordinates along with the photo if your settings allow it. I haven't dug through iPhone or Android yet to find those settings but I will soon and I'll give instructions on how to do it. But if you want to try giving it a shot, make sure your settings allow your location to be sent along with the photos. That way I can automatically put them on a map and everyone can see where the photo was taken. Several people have sent awesome scenery photos but some didn't have the coordinates with them and that's a bummer!! Guyjax, you're one of em. Those scenery pictures from New Mexico are awesome but they didn't have the coordinates. I'd love to see exactly where those pictures were taken from.

Now who's going to send in some photos so I can see where everyone is and what you're up to???? I want to see some shiny trucks, beautiful mountains, and happy smiling faces!!!!

Just noticed another thing for you guys to be aware of. Some of you are taking photos on digital cameras that don't have the date and time set properly so it shows the picture being taken years ago when it may have been just a few days ago.

Turbo Dan, I noticed yours did that. It shows it was taken 4 years, 8 months ago. Here's the actual data that came with the photo:

"DateTimeOriginal":"2009:06:19 00:42:16","DateTimeDigitized":"2009:06:19 00:42:16"

So your camera is showing the wrong date and time.

I'll be setting it up so you guys can edit your information for each photo anytime you like so it's no catastrophe. But if you can set the date and time properly and allow GPS coordinates to be sent (as mentioned above) you won't have to edit that kind of stuff. I'll know exactly where and when the picture was taken so I can put it on a map or a timeline or all kinds of cool stuff.

Just turned on location tagging on my camera so hopefully new pics will show up tagged for the correct location.

Yes it did! And the time shows the correct time, also. Perfect!

I'll be adding an option to view the photos on a map soon also which I think is going to be super cool. I'll geocode the coordinates so the caption will say whatever you put as the subject of the email and then:

"Taken 2 hours, 4 minutes ago by guyjax(Guy Hodges) near Amarillo, TX."

So by having that location and time information in there I can do some cool things with the pictures. Over time it will be an awesome scrap book. You'll know exactly where you were and when it was that you took every picture. You'll be able to see it on a map or a timeline or however we'd like to do it.

Maybe not so perfect since I took that pic as a test in the UPS yard in dallas. I have noticed GPS positioning any where near Dallas TX seems to be screwy at the best of times. So not sure why but we can keep a watch on it and see if it straightens up. Maybe just around Dallas it's crazy. Will take a few pics later from a different location and see if the tracking is better.
