Because my hubby is one of the 'few' in the FAB scheme of things, they'll give him the po'dunk Int'l ... manual.... because he 'can.' When all else is in for service. . . . Other drivers carry on happy and .. well.. ya know?!? It's NOT A BADGE, in his yard, ... rather an 'ole wilson hat' ... LoL!

The manual restrictions can still be a problem at times, OD is all manual although supposedly we are getting so auto's this year.
My dad works for Ryder and has had a few occasions where people need a loaner truck and all they have available to lend out is manuals, so the driver has to sit and wait until their truck is done or until a auto is available.

I wouldn't worry about the manual restriction at all. It took me five years and three companies before I actually ended up using the fact I can drive drive stick. It's a small local company with about twenty active trucks, but if you're gonna pick a big company and stay with them, you'll probably never see a manual. Knight was more or less 99% done phasing them out in 2018.
