If you provide documentation from your surgery, doctor and keep the prescription bottle you should be fine. I just had eye surgery on Monday, I asked the anesthesiologist for documentation listing what was given to me for the procedure in case it shows up on a drug test
Thank you, and good luck!

My surgery in March 2021 was no issue at all. Passed my drug test. At 53 after cancer diagnosis , contemplating on retiring now. Life is short.

I am so sorry to hear that!! Yes, life is short. If, after 5 yrs you are still cancer free and want to work, think about driving then. Lots of us started in our 60s.
Best wishes to you.

Cancer? Fight it like nothing else matters because nothing else does matter! After my experience two years ago, I would not recommend the chemotherapy drugs to anybody, though, due to the long term side effects.

Indeed.
AND, if driving is still your dream . . . GO DO IT. LIVE LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!
If your meds clear with DOT and/or the company you choose to train you.. sheesh!! Carry on, good sir. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT~!!
Just my 2 cents... the 'cheerleader/trucker's wife' on this forum. (All the above are songs, I don't own the rights, just listen often .. )
I'll say a prayer for you, if you are okay with such.
Thanks for stopping in to Trucking Truth. Stay and conquer!

Hello, wonderful trucking community,
I wanted to apply to a paid trucking program with a major carrier but I just had surgery a couple of days ago.
My question is, am I automatically not hireable because I don't think I will pass the DOT drug test. I was prescribed Tylenol w/ Hydrocodone to manage pain post operation. And from what I've read, this is one of the banned substances on the list.
Browsing through this forum, there are so many opportunities with Trucking if I can just safely make it through the first year or two. Oh and let me not forget, learn how to back and get pass my CDL-A. test. So many employment opportunities to satisfy long list of aspirations.
Thank you.
