No kidding. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but all the beat up s###boxes that used to run for Landstar are now rushing to pull Amazon trailers for next to nothing.
Ughhhh. They did this in the Denver front range area with their box trucks. Last year, I was looking at purchasing and driving a box truck locally, Got my DOT and authority, in the span of weeks, there went from being tons and tons of loads available from many different small companies to virtually none. Amazon literally absorbed almost every box carrier in the area and the load pay dropped to almost nothing, if you could even get in. Those same companies then turned around and sought out drivers below scale for the area.
I love capitalism, but this is corruption of a free market system. Usually not one to call for government intervention, especially if consumers can make a market right itself, but at this point, along with other tech giants, amazon needs to be brought to task for monopolizing and essentially racketeering .
