An HSA is simply a savings account that allows putting aside pre tax money to cover deductibles or even inexpensive procedures.
HSA is a Health Savings Account. You put in pre tax money and can use it for your medical expenses. If you don't use it, at 60 something, it becomes a retirement account. You get a debit card to use for the account. It's your money, if you leave the company you take it with you. CFI adds about $20 per week to ours.

Here is info from my most recent pay. I have benefits for my wife and myself. I got all of the extras I needed. We are both in our 50s and are non smokers. The HSA amount is what I choose to put in. That is my money, it just goes from one of my pockets to the other. Hope this helps.
There are other options I did not choose. I chose what's best for us.
We are about to start our open enrollment for next year. We'll see what if any changes there are.
