My whole family was involved in trucking in one form or another. For some reason I put off getting my CDL and wasted 4 years of my life driving a cab. Probably cost myself around 150k+ in earnings while working the same or less hours than I did driving people around.
I got two graduate degrees (and the student loan debt to prove it!), the stress of supervising people, and near as I can figure, I make just a hair above what a first-year driver would make. And the growth potential seems much higher in trucking, especially right now. We didn't even get cost-of-living increases in my workplace this year.

Slow down!
After every mistake I've made, no matter how minor, I try to figure out how it happened. Every time it's come back to me getting into a rush for one reason or another. My mind ends up more focused on what I'm going to do next, instead of what I'm doing right now. If you feel yourself getting rushed, STOP, regather your thoughts, and make sure you are entirely focused on your current task. Don't ever let anyone rush you.
Taking a few extra moments to recheck yourself will prevent you from wasting hours or longer correcting an error.
