Hello,

I am looking to contact a recruiter to get started in trucking. To cut to the chase and be clear here, in no way am I concerned about failing a drug test. I don't use any drugs, and do not drink alcohol. My only concern is that I have extremely short hair on my body, and have always kept my beard shaved and the hair on my head pretty short at about 1/8-1/4", typically on the shorter side during summer.

I am worried that if I go in for the hair follicle drug test and it can't be completed because my hair is too short, that I will lose any chance I have at becoming an employee. What should I do? Should I just try to wait 3-4 months and grow my hair out, or should I talk to a recruiter and just proceed?

Thank you!

I would just wait to cut it a month or two. They will take armpit, pubic or leg hair if you don't have a testable length up top. I too wear mine short but prior to testing I let it grow to about 3/4 of an inch or so to maybe an inch. That was plenty. A female testing had hair down past her buttocks, they took a full length cut and rolled it onto the sample card. If body hair is used it is claimed to detect upwards of a years time.

Oh, meant to say, if you don't have any hair long enough for a good sample you will not be employed, you must have some hair somewhere long enough to sample.

Gotcha, makes sense then. I'll wait a month or two then and go from there, just to be on the safe side. Thank you!
