Happens frequently. The cap blows and inflicts a lot of collateral damage. This is why it’s very dangerous to tailgate a truck... retread blows and throws a 50 pounds of rubber debris everywhere.

Yep, n that’s why I go out of my way to not loligag (is that spelled right?? Lol) beside a truck while either in my CMV and especially my personal vehicle. Some of my friends get irritated when I tell them to pass the trucks quickly if they must and do it in the left….seen what blown tires can do.

I actually saw the blowout and tread when quite a ways up in the air before landing to earth again….

Commercial Motor Vehicle

A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:

  • Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
  • Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
  • Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
  • Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
  • Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards

Back in my 20's So Calif's L.A. city bus system, was or still is, RTD (Rapid Transit District)

Well, was article in papers, 1 of their rear tires blew, ripped thru the floor, sadly got hold of small girl, and killed her !!

NEVER forgot that story, so I too NEVER sit next to a semi on the freeway in my cars !! And also told anyone I was riding with to hurry up n go! lol
