Hello, truck drivers, sorry to bother, i just had a couple of questions, i had to ask,
I went to trucking school, and i was wondering how many times did you guys have to go through trucking school, before you passed, and became a truck driver, and licensed CDL holder ?
Also i was wondering since I found driving a truck very difficult, i was wondering, where did you guys get all your practice, driving a truck, from ?
Obviously, probably, not at school,
Obviously, probably not coming into, trucking school, entirety, new to driving a truck.
Or Was it at school, ?
Hi, Firefighterangel, and welcome to Trucking Truth! Some of our members DID, indeed, go to a private school to 'obtain' their CDL's, but most still had to go through COMPANY TRAINING, afterward, anyway.
This is exactly WHY we recommend company sponsored training. If (and when) you pass, you will HAVE A JOB! :)
MANY of our EXPERT drivers on here, FAILED the first time OR TWO!! Truckin' Along with Kearsey!Example.
Here's some links. Our High Road Training Program (and subsequent PreTrip guides) will definitely put you ahead of the class!
You're not a bother! You are exactly why the mods and experienced drivers are here, and why Brett put together such an awesome website. The only question that's dumb, is the one not asked!
Again, welcome!!! Stop back~

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
