I had a intetesting thing happen I thought I would share here.

Driving down the road yesterday my ELD went nuts and all the communication out and inbound shutdown. A big message popped up saying to reconnect the device. It would not let me out of that screen. I use a tablet, so I restarted it. I got the screen and it gave me the status change area. I was only a few miles from a customer so I got there and while the were unloading me I did a hard reset on the system. It came back up normal and was working fine. Cool.

I left customer and in the same area it went crazy the first time it did it again. same problem.

I did another hard reset and it came back up.

This is a peoplenet system. I called them and they looked at the system in their end. They said everything looks good. They asked if I was around a military base when the problem started. I was. They admitted they have known for sometime some military bases have wifi blockers that will knock the system off line and cause it to crash as happened to me. It should reconnect on its own once it gets out of that area, but they know of several cases where it won’t without a hard reset.

Just fyi!!!

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

That’s interesting to know about military base jamming.

In January, the navigation part of my EDL tablet started telling me I was out of route, return to the road behind you. This happened a number of times when I knew I was on a straight line to my pickup/delivery. I would have to hit re-route until I got the correct map back on screen. Several times I had to pull off the road and re-boot the tablet. It reinforced the wisdom of really knowing the route beforehand so I would know if the navigation app was right or wrong.
