So this just happened..

Shani was driving so I’ll let her explain what happened in more detail but basically the truck started slowing down suddenly and literally came to a stop on the highway. She didn’t even have time to get it off the road all the way so we were sitting there on I15 at midnight in the middle of nowhere still mostly in the right lane. We were losing tons of air so I figured it was the trailer but we only stopped losing air with the tractor brakes engaged so I set the tractor brakes and built up pressure and then basically dragged us off the road in first gear before we lost pressure again (brakes were still locked up even with full pressure).

Sorry the pic is so bad but it looks like one of the air lines under the cat walk got caught somehow in the drive line. Never seen that before but apparently it happened to another one of our trucks a couple weeks ago according to the guy I talked to in road service just now. Guess it’s something I’ll add to the list of things to watch out for in my pretrips although everything looked fine when we left Home Depot 100 miles ago. I’ve got every light on on this truck and our triangles out so just pray we don’t get hit before we get fixed.

Ouch! What a bummer. I hope you get rescued and are safe.

Shanti, welcome to the realities of trucking life.

Thanks Bruce. Loves guy came out and out a connector on one of the lines but apparently there were two lines that tore and he don’t have that side with him so he’s heading back to get the other size

Pianoman, I like the way you break in your new students! Dang, that must have been frightening! I am glad you two survived it.

😂😂 She was pretty terrified lol but she handled it well. We just got repaired and are hitting the road again. Thankfully we were only 26 miles away from a Loves with a shop so it didn’t take terribly long

I recently was driving on an interstate when the dash display lit up like a Christmas tree. Water in the fuel system. (It turned out to be antifreeze ) Before I could pull over to the shoulder, the truck shut down and therefore I lost the power steering. It was a struggle to get off the highway and I just barely made it. Sounds like your experience was somewhat similar.

Interstate:

Not to take away from your situation. But the other night I was driving up to Salt Lake City from Vegas and just north of mesquite I seen this truck on the shoulder so I got over to the left lane and thank god I did because there was a body ( I don’t think it was a animal) in the right lane. I think someone got hit but it was a quick glance but did not look like a animal like I said. :(

I was running a set to Brunswick, NJ one day when it felt like my tranny was going. I was slowing down and nothing I was doing to fixing the issue. Finally saw a few wisps of smoke from my trailers and smelled brakes and pulled over. Turns out an airline broke on the rear trailer causing it to lock-up. Two hours after pulling over I was on my way.

. . . Got plucked from the city one day to run a Brunswick with a Vineland via. On July 3d.

Needless to say, heading towards the coast on the day before July 4th was not a great idea. I didn't get to Vineland until 1600. Then I broke down. Got to Brunswick at about 2230. They *****ed I was late and then told me my trailers weren't even ready!

Finally got my dispatch and I told them I would not have time to get to HGR. They really didn't care. I called Central and after explaining to them my day and remaining hours they put me up in Brunswick for the night.

But, yes. The yards at ENJ and Brunswick are a PITA. :)
