Thanks Bruce, setting up new gov’t accounts are a pain. Renewals are far easier.

I’m definetly a different breed of cat, for sure. I understand how hard work and determination can lead to wonderful things in this life. I’m from one of those old generations. My folks and family instilled some life long commitments to me for sure. For which I am eternally grateful.

I do want to say this for anyone who reads this. I rarely talk about my personnal situation because it’s not the purpose of this site. I have done many things in this industry most will never experience, and I thank God everyday for my blessings. However some us old folks that have been around for a long time together read between the lines.

We always encourage each other, because we know what all of us have experienced and know each of us old timers have a firm grasp on what we want and need to do. Newbie’s have that yet to learn, much less experience.

What I have done is NOT for anyone new to this industry by any measure. The countless amounts of effort that have gone into this is beyond belief, not to mention the risk factor and monetary commitment. It is not for everyone by any means. We love success stories because we all know how rough this industry can be.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Pack Rat, quit angling for a new job. I offered to team drive with you and you referred me to CRST. LOL

LOL but that's the thing, you wanted to run team. He runs solo.

There is a real reason why PackRat goes by PackRat....there would be no room for you! rofl-1.gif

Congratulations to you two.

Get another truck/trailer and you can hire me.

Only if the new truck is a day cab. Hehe

Day Cab:

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

PJ, all kidding aside, I am probably speaking for many here on TT. I wish you success in whatever you are doing. Keep posting your great adventures as they happen.

Thanks everyone we appreciate all the kind words. I should be ready by the middle to end of next week. Guess I’ll just have to sit out the DOT Blitz week next week, lol.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Congratulations PJ!

I love going through your Granite Capital! Twice this week as a matter of fact. I often go through there on my way to Greenwood, SC. I sort of hope your little town never grows up, but never loses the industry it has. I think I get your point about taking the road less travelled. You're certainly cut from rare cloth and it's good to have that fabric in our nation's life.

Drive ON!

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Steve you should have hollerad at me. We have a nice little town for sure. I’m out in the country with plenty of truck parking…. Greenwood is a bit off the beaten path for sure… Shout out if your coming through sir!!!!

Dang, I was hoping I’d cross paths with you some day at a tank wash, most likely the Chicago Quala, but it wasn’t meant to be. Considering what your new freight is going to be, I’d rather we not cross paths. Kind of like meeting the grim reaper on the road, know what I mean? Best of luck to you, I am very glad you found your dream job!
