Well, this isn’t weird , but I parked at a casino for the first time recently. This was in West Memphis at the Southland Casino. Big lot. Not many trucks there when I parked, but when I left the lot was full.
In an alley near Kodak I think outside of LA. Not weirdest place to park, but when I walked to find some food I was wearing a blue bandana, some gringos in a monza pulled up to let me know I should remove the bandana. They were cool supposedly but it was the wrong color a couple blocks away. I just returned to my truck and slept.
Where was the weirdest area you took a long break at? So for me a few months ago I got in some unexpected traffic and wasn't going to make it to the truck stop in time. So I got off the interstate and went looking for a place to park for 34hours. I couldn't really find anywhere and had only 4min left on the clock so I did find a church that had free parking. I ended up that Thursday and Friday at a church for 34 hours. Glad I had some snacks packed because I was done driving. So I am interested in hearing your guys and gals stories. Also I am only on a 30min break right now so expect a delayed response.
You've gotten the Anthem back? You mentioned you were 'Hotel'ing' it for a while... guess they fixed ya quick?!?
You missed the fun of the Pinnacle?

no didn't decide to get the Pinnacle yet. Did have a hotel for a few days. And already started trucking again. On my way to a location in Georgia that I have to cross Atlanta so not looking forward to Atlanta traffic lol. But on a serious not glad to be driving! I am actively going to get ready to start driving again because I prefer night driving. Also first time not driving a Mack since CDL training. Right now got a Kenworth T680 hopefully temporary even tho the T680 is a really nice truck!

Michael parked at an Indian Casino NE of Sacramento (in Lincoln) last year. I had told him about it before when he worked at CRE but he ended up not needing it then. It's convenient, especially if you're otherwise going to run into commute traffic. This one is nice, they have a large area dedicated for RVs and trucks and will shuttle you to the casino, just give them a call and they pick you up. Michael walked and was glad to see that they had Panda Express in a food court there. He almost always eats on his truck but can't pass up Panda Express, LOL.
I once had to deliver structural steel building materials to a church. Getting there early on Saturday morning, my wife and I did a 34 while waiting until the Monday morning delivery.
Although we were parked way over in the corner of the lot, we found ourselves surrounded the following morning when churchgoers showed up for the services. Donning our best clothes, we attended the service and had a great time meeting new people.
Between that and the nearby hiking trails we discovered, that ended up being one of the most memorable weekends of my OTR career.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
